MADE IN VANCOUVER: Celebrating Local Arts & Creativity
Yaletown • February 13-27, 2010
Many groups and organizations around the city have looked at ways and opportunities to feature the businesses and artistic talents of Vancouver before the huge world audience that will be arriving during the 2010 Games. However, the combination of coordinating difficulties with the City of Vancouver and the massive cuts to province-wide Arts funding has made this extremely difficult and many of these groups have long since given up.
I Heart VAN ART has refused to let this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity slip by and has been working very hard so visitors from across the globe have a TRUE VANCOUVER EXPERIENCE.
With the Yaletown Business Improvement Association , I Heart VAN ART is producing the MADE IN VANCOUVER FESTIVAL, taking place in Yaletown during the Games from February 13-27. This will be one of the biggest showcases of LOCAL Arts and Culture in front of the largest world audience in Vancouver’s history.
Made in Vancouver is…
- A 15-day not-for profit festival showcasing ONLY LOCAL VANCOUVER-BASED talent: musicians, visual artists, dancers, performance artists, films, entertainment, etc.
- Expecting an average of 10,000 people per hour walk through the streets of Yaletown (Mainland & Hamilton) from Noon to Midnight every day during the Games.
- NOT in any way affiliated or sponsored by VANOC, with zero government funding.
- Made possible by the 1000’s of Performance Artists and Volunteers who have come together to support I Heart VAN ART and the Vancouver Arts and Culture for our city.
- Working with grass roots local businesses as well as larger Corporate Sponsors to assist in bringing true Canadian talent to the streets for local and international guests.
